ABA featured in Sports Illustrated
Published on December 16, 2005 under American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) is featured in the December 19th edition of America's number one sports magazine, Sports Illustrated. The story, written by SI Senior writer, Alexander Wolff, tells about Mr. Wolff's decision to put a professional basketball team in Vermont next season set to play in "the Aud" in Barre VT, a 1650-seat Depression era building beloved by generations of Vermonters. Another feature describes how the reconstituted ABA promises regional rivalries and fan-friendliness. According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "We are extremely pleased and proud to have Alex as part of the ABA; we know his team, the Vermont Frost Heaves, will do well. And we are also very honored that Sports Illustrated would run this wonderful feature about his team and the league. The response to the article has been unbelievable - the calls and emails are endless and we are very appreciative. Wednesday was a fun day. Thank you SI." Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
