Answer: AMU - ALEXANDRIA MONGOLIA UNITED - the newest ABA expansion team.
In an article written by Carla Branch, Alexandria Times Staff Writer: "The American Basketball Association is coming to Alexandria and Mayor William D. Euille told the Alexandria City Council on Tuesday night. "This will be an opportunity for families to enjoy professional sports here in Alexandria."
"We Need You," said co-owner Daryl L. Mackey. "Our goal is to involve the entire Northern Virginia community behind this exciting new team. Last year, a team from Beijing played in the ABA in Los Angeles. And this year, we are adding a team loaded with the best Mongolian players here and will play many of the great east coast ABA teams. Here's what we'd like to have."

We are extremely pleased and proud to be partnering with the great country of Mongolia to bring this truly international team to our area. We will launch our website on April 26th and offer a 3 day-2 night vacation with contests. Reserve your seat at the local and international press conference and brunch. Watch the ABA website, www.abalive.com for specific details to be announced very shortly." For more information, email Shawnbattle@mris.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
