Published on July 31, 2006 under American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN -- The American Basketball Association today announced that Quad Cities has been added to the roster of teams to begin play in November.
According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "This is a great fit for the league - and we have an excellent ownership group with a terrific marketing and sports background. Quad Cities will be the perfect piece to the puzzle in our north central division with rivalries in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and Indiana. We're pleased."
Quad Cities is owned by a group of investors headed by Tom McGinn, President of 24/7 Directories, Inc. (a marketing and advertising company). The team plans to make additional announcements shortly relating to team name, tryouts, venue, personnel, coaches, Web site and scheduling.
McGinn added, "The Quad Cities is a great place to play basketball and has some of the best basketball fans in the world. We are excited to be bringing basketball back to the Quad Cities and hope to start some local rivalries with teams from Peoria and Cedar Rapids. And we are excited to be part of such an exciting league and know the fans will love the ABA's brand of fast-paced basketball and entertainment at affordable prices. We are 'good to go.'"
