San Angelo Saints News Release

SAN ANGELO – The San Angelo Saints today announced that the team has re-signed high scoring forward Trevor Weisgerber for the 2003-04 season. The left-winger from Regina, Saskatchewan ranked 5th on the Saints in scoring last season despite playing only 39 games for San Angelo. He notched 17 goals and 22 assists for 39 points to average a point per game and was the team's only "plus" player, registering a +4 plus/minus ratio.

Last year was Weisgerber's first full pro season after finishing up his college playing career at Lake Superior State University. He played 11 games for Oklahoma City before being picked up by the Saints in November. His totals for the season included 19 goals and 24 assists in 50 games. At 6-2, 195 pounds he also adds more size to the Saints' current roster, which is already significantly larger and promises to be more physical than last season.

"I've heard nothing but great things about Trevor ever since I got here," said Saints head coach Ray Edwards. "If he continues the progress he made last season he could be one of the top young players in the league."

Weisgerber also ranked 2nd on the Saints in short-handed goals and 3rd in shooting percentage. His 17 goals ranked him 5th on the team. He is the 10th player signed by the Saints for next season and the 7th player from last year's team to return. His career stats are listed below.

"We had to work hard to sign Trevor," added Edwards. "He had some interest from teams in other leagues, but eventually decided that he really wanted to return to San Angelo."
