The Cleveland Barons Hockey Club of the North American Hockey League is proud to announce that defenseman Matt Ruberto has signed with Canisius College of the Hockey Atlantic Conference. The 6'1, 205 lb right handed defenseman from Stoney Creek, Ontario joins his twin brother Mike, at the Buffalo, NY college.
Ruberto who led the Barons defensemen with 5 goals and 26 assists for 31 points in 54 games. One of the NAHL hardest hitters on the ice, Ruberto amassed 174 PIMs during the season.
Tim Alexander, Barons Head Coach/GM had this statement." Matt was a major force on the blue line for us this year. His leadership on and off the ice contributed to a successful season for the Barons. Canisius will benefit with the addition of Matt Ruberto. I wish him nothing but the best in future for him and his brother."
Matt Ruberto becomes the seventh Baron to commit to college. He join Brian Bicek (Western Michigan), Ross Cherry (Middlebury), Tony Wiseman ( Utica College), Trevor Mallon (Niagara University), Ian Keserich ( Ohio State) and his brother Mike at Canisius.
