"A-OK" Goes the Distance as the Pride Even Series with a 4-1 Triumph over the Jackals

(NASHUA, NH, September 6, 2007) Pride righthander Akira "A-OK" Okamoto pitched a complete game eight-hitter Thursday night as the Nashua Pride evened their best-of-five Can-Am League playoff series Thursday night with a 4-1 win over the New Jersey Jackals in front of 628 fans at Historic Holman Stadium. With the series tied at 1-1, game three of the series will be played on Friday night at 7:05 at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, New Jersey.

Okamoto struck out eight and walked only one is posting the victory. New Jersey's only run came in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Can-Am League batting champion Sandy Madera.

The Pride scored all the runs they would need in the third inning off New Jersey starter and loser Joel Bennett. John Ramistella opened the inning with a monster homerun to left, his second homerun of the postseason. Jermy Acey followed with a walk, went to third on a single by Olmo Rosario and scored on a double play grounder by Chris Colabello. Rosario, who finished second to Madera in the batting race, was three-for-four tonight.

Nashua added a run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Acey scoring Richard Giannotti who opened the inning with a double. The Pride completed their scoring in the eighth when Rosario stroked a one-out single, stole second, went to third on a wild throw by catcher Matt Lauderdale and then scored on a wild pitch by reliever Justin Garza.

The Pride will send Lance Stevens (RHP, 3-6, 3.78) to the mound in Friday's game three while New Jersey will counter with Ryan Pacyna (RHP, 6-2, 3.35). The game will be carried on the Internet at www.nashuapride.com or www.canamleague.com.
