Edmonton, June 19, 2004 – The Edmonton Aviators Men (0W-1D-3L) play their ninth game of the season, and fourth home game, on June 21st (6pm MST) against the Vancouver Whitecaps Men (5W-1D-3L as of June 18) at Clarke Park.

Vancouver finished the 2003 regular season in second place in the Pacific Division and tied for fifth place overall in the A-League. The Whitecaps finished with 52 points from 28 games played, scoring 45 goals and conceding 24.

The Whitecaps were eliminated from the 2003 playoffs in the first round by the Seattle Sounders.

Goalkeeper Mike Franks finished the 2003 regular season with the third best goals against average in the A-League at 0.767. This season, Franks' goals against average is at 0.89 in nine games played.

Vancouver's other goalkeeper, Alexandre Marques, has played 3 games and has a goals against average of 0.38.

In 2003, forward Jason Jordan led the Whitecaps in points with 25 points in 24 games played, good for eighth place in the A-League. Oliver Heald was next with 21 points in 25 games played.

This season, forward Carlo Corazzin leads the Whitecaps in goals, assists, and points. In seven games played, Corazzin has scored three goals, four assists, and 10 points.

Oliver Heald has chipped in with two goals and one assist in nine games played.

Dave Morris, Alfredo Valente, Davide Xausa, Steve Kindel, Jason Jordan, and Winston Griffiths have each scored one goal.

Vancouver currently sits fourth in the Western Conference with 16 points from nine games played.

This is the second of four meetings between the teams this year. The first meeting ended in a 0-0 draw as both teams opened their season at Swanguard Stadium on April 30th. The other two games between these teams will be played in Vancouver on July 4th and in Edmonton on July 13.
