"A" for effort
April 3, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. The ABA would like to thank Ben Osbourne and the publishers of SLAM MAGAZINE for the wonderful multi-page article in the June edition now on the newstands. We are deeply flattered and honored. The edition, featuring two collectible covers with Dirk Nowitski and Chauncy Billips, is packed with fabulous stories about about professional basketball and we are proud to be included. As Ben wrote, "A" FOR EFFORT. They may not have the budget of that other association. But the second coming of the ABA is doing its best to make the game entertaining, accessible, and fun. And if you don't have a team in your city, just wait. With hip-hop blaring from the Anderson University gym speakers and the excellent PA announcer - "Mic P" of Naptown's Hot 96.3 FM - getting the crowd hyped, the ABA's Indiana Alley Cats burst out of their locker room in their black jerseys, ready to battle the Pittsburgh Xplosion. Not a bad environment, I say to myself...." Lots of pictures, great copy, Ben captured the heart and soul of the ABA. Pick up a copy, you'll enjoy it. Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
