Memphis Xplorers News Release
DESOTO COUNTYâThe Memphis Xplorers are rewarding outstanding students with "Touchdown Tickets"âstudents who scored all "A's" on their report card this past nine weeks receive two complimentary admissions to the Xplorers home opener on Friday, April 15 so they can come and bring a friend for free.
"Getting an education means more than just showing up for class every day until you're 18," Xplorers General Manager Nate Yoder said. "Success in the classroom can mean a ray of hope, a way out, a vision to achieve something. We want to help students reach for the stars by rewarding them for their success now."
Through cooperation with The DeSoto Times Today, the Xplorers will award Touchdown Tickets to 2,846 students in the DeSoto County public school system, Southern Baptist Educational Center and Sacred Heart private schools. Students will be able to redeem their vouchers on the day of the game at the DeSoto Civic Center.
"Children who do well in school and have high literacy scores are more likely to stay out of jail, live above the poverty line and go to college," Yoder said. "It's worth every penny we invest to help the children in this community."
