Edmonton, AB-The Edmonton Cracker-Cats began their six game home stand against the Reno Silver Sox, winning 7-2 in front of 588 fans at Telus Field.
The âCats gave starter Eric Van Slyke some early run support, scoring two runs in the top of the first. Van Slyke had another great outing, going 7.2IP, with 6H,2R, 2ER, 2BB, and 4 strikeouts. His record now moves to 8-3 on the season.
Errol Simonitsch got the start for the Sox. His numbers were as follows, 7.0IP, 10H, 4R, 2ER, 1BB, and one strikeout. He was relieved by M.Guilin in the eighth, who gave up the remaining 3 runs.
The âCats offense was led by centerfielder Ruddy Yan and catcher John Pasieka, who each batted out 3 hits along with 2 RBI's on the night.
The Golden League leading closer, Pete Sikaras came into the game in the ninth. He struck out two on his way to his 16th save of the season.
