
Walla Walla Adds Two for 2015 Season

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Walla Walla Sweets added two more players for the 2015 season of Sweets baseball on Friday. Pitcher Easton Lucas and infielder Nick Costello.
Costello, is a 6-foot 1-inch, 185-pound infielder for the Pepperdine Waves . A native of Claremont, California, Costello is a graduate of Claremont High School. Costello did not play for the Waves last season due to injury, but was back in the lineup in first week of the 2015 NCAA Divison I season. As a senior at Claremont, Costello hit .429 with four home runs, four triples, eight doubles, 35 RBI, and a .762 slugging percentage.
"Nick is an all-around good player; a great defender with some pop," said manager Frank Mutz. "He's making his way into the lineup as a freshman which really speaks volumes for his work ethic and talent."
Lucas, is a 6-foot 3-inch, 170-pound, left handed pitcher and a native of Simi Valley, California. A senior this season, Lucas plays for Grace Bretheren High School. As a junior, Lucas comipled a 2.35 ERA, striking out 42 batters while allowing only seven walks. He was named first team all-league, and was name the team MVP. In 2014, Lucas was also selected to play for the New York Yankees in the Area Code games.
"Easton is a tall lefty with a ton of room to grow, and this summer will give him a great opportunity to do so," added Mutz. "His fastball sits mid to high 80s with two solid off speed pitches that he throws for strikes."
Opening Day of the Sweets 2015 season is scheduled for June 5 at 7:05 P.M. at Borleske Stadium against the Medford Rogues. Ticket packages are on sale now at the Sweets Shoppe in downtown Walla Walla, online at wallawallasweets.com, or by calling 509.522.BALL (2255).
