Marion Blue Racers News Release
MARION, OH - The Blue Racers are proud to announce that former Toledo Rocket signal caller, 2013 UIFL Champion and longtime Arena Football League 2 veteran Chris Wallace has been signed as the starting quarterback for the rest of the 2014 season.
Wallace, a Springfield, OH native, is the Arena Football League 2's (AF2) all-time leader in passing yardage. He recently coronated his illustrious indoor football career with an Ultimate Bowl III Championship while playing in his final game with the Florida Tarpons.
Chris is no stranger to the Blue Racers. He was picked to be the head coach for the 2014 season, but left to pursue his current teaching job at in elementary school in Springfield. Head Coach and GM LaMonte Coleman is excited about bringing him aboard. "Chris just won a championship with the Florida Tarpons last season and is the leading passer in AFL 2 history, so it was a no brainer. I'm glad that we could come to an agreement with him to make this happen."
After bringing the Blue Racers to 5-1 with their most recent win over the Bluegrass Warhorses, Coach Coleman is 4-0 as head coach dating back to the April 27, 2013 victory against the Port Huron Patriots. The team is number one in the CIFL South Division and second overall in the league standings.
The opportunity to win back to back championships was a significant motivating factor for Chris to return to indoor football. He also appreciated that the atmosphere in Marion felt like a family environment and it was part of his reasoning for joining the roster.
Wallace currently sits at 6th all-time in University of Toledo history for passing yards in a career. In 2011, he was briefly the starting quarterback of the Arena Football League's (AFL) New Orleans Voodoo, starting two games and winning one. In the same season, he was named the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Power.
