Former UCF Knight Matt Luzunaris Joins Orlando City

ORLANDO - Orlando City Soccer Club is proud to announce American forward Matt Luzunaris has joined the Lions on loan from Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquakes for the remainder of the season.

"I hope that my abilities will help the team in the upcoming English Premier League games and the four regular season games left," said Luzunaris. "I have played against teams from the EPL so I also bring in some experience as well.

Luzunaris joins Orlando City for the remainder of the season. The Earthquakes reserve the right to recall him if the need arises.

Luzunaris grew up in Margate, Florida, near Ft. Lauderdale. After attending West Boca Raton High School, Matt was invited to train and trial with Newcastle United. He attended college at the University of Central Florida, spending one season with the Knights before returning to Europe to play professionally.

Luzunaris signed his first professional contract with SC Schwanenstadt in Austria in 2008. He later resigned with the club when it reorganized as Magna Wiener Neustadt. In 2009 he was also loaned to SV Wienerberg, where he had his best spell in Europe. In 10 appearances, he scored five goals. He moved to Rapid Wein (Rapid Vienna) for the 2009-2010 season, making 13 appearances for the second team. He signed with San Jose for the 2011 season, and has made two regular season appearances for the Earthquakes.
