Wilmington, NC- After a disappointing 90th minute loss to the Charleston Battery on Thursday night, the Wilmington Hammerheads return to Legion Stadium Saturday night to host the Harrisburg City Islanders. Kickoff is at 7:30pm and the game will be streamed live on USLlive.com.
Saturday night will be the first match up between the Hammerheads and the City Islanders. While Harrisburg sits in second in the National Division and the Hammerheads are at fourth in the American, the teams only differ in points by two. Last weekend the Hammerheads earned six points after beating Antigua twice, bringing them to 27. Harrisburg, although in a higher rank in their division than the Hammerheads, currently has 25 points.
After having a successful weekend in Antigua, the Hammerheads were defeated in a mid-week match up with the Charleston Battery. Wilmington will be sure to come into Saturday's game ready to re-gain their winning ways, especially with playoff positions on the line as the end of the season draws near.
Harrisburg has not seen a loss since their last meeting with Rochester on June 21. The City Islanders have been playing consistently well in the past few weeks, scoring four goals against Charlotte on July 2 and defeating LA June 26 after tying them two nights before.
With about four weeks left of regular season play in the USL PRO, both teams will be scrambling for the 3 points to escalate their position for playoffs.
