Third Leg, Pittsburgh Versus FC New York
July 15, 2011 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
Pittsburgh, PA-The Pittsburgh Riverhounds travel to New York for the third and final leg of the regular season series with F.C. New York.
The battle for security within the USL PRO's National Division has met its climax between the two Clubs as the Riverhounds jumped above F.C. New York last weekend.
The two teams will meet for the second time in eight days.
The Riverhounds have hosted F.C. New York in Pittsburgh for the first two legs of the series.
In those games the Riverhounds recorded four goals to New York's lone conversion and earn six points.
The first-ever meeting between the Clubs came in late May with little implications on the post-season.
Since that game, the two Clubs have fought to position themselves within the National Division Table and receive a ticket into the coveted post-season.
With less than a month remaining in the 2011 season, it's crucial to earn points in each game here on out.
This Saturday's matinée between the Riverhounds and F.C. New York being played at Belson Stadium on the campus of St. John's University will be a physical and intense battle on the field.
The two sides will be fighting to control their own destiny and secure their seeding in the playoffs.
