Sussex Skyhawks News Release
Augusta, N.J. - The Skyhawks are proud to announce the signing of right-handed pitcher Trevor Marcotte. The Burlington, Vt. native will make his Sussex debut as the starting pitcher in tonight's game versus the Quebec Capitales at 7:05 p.m. at CenturyLink Field at Skylands Park.
Marcotte joins the Skyhawks after being released by the Pittsfield Colonials on August 8. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound right-hander was 4-4 with a 4.93 ERA in nine starts for the Colonials but struggled through his last start for Pittsfield on August 4 against Brockton. In his three starts prior to the loss, however, Marcotte was 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA.
The 32-year-old Marcotte brings veteran experience to a young Skyhawks rotation. The right-handed hurler is a nine-year pro and has pitched over 500 innings in his career.
In other roster moves, the Skyhawks activated right-handed pitcher Jusef Frias from the disabled list and released right-handed rookies Will Hassett and Jimmer Kennedy.
Additionally, infielder Chase Fontaine was suspended for two games after being ejected from Thursday night's game against Quebec and will be unavailable today and Saturday.
