Worcester 10, New Jersey 2 (Game 1)
A six-run fourth sunk New Jersey as Worcester won Game 1 of a seven-inning double-header 10-2. 3B Mark Minicozzi went 2-for-3 with his eighth home run on the season for the Tornadoes, and LHP Zach Zuercher improved to 3-2 on the season by surrendering just two earned runs over six innings pitched. 1B Josh Petersen went 2-for-3 in the loss for the Jackals.
New Jersey 2, Worcester 0 (Game 2)
New Jersey salvaged a split of their doubleheader with Worcester by winning a seven-inning pitcher's duel 2-1. Despite just three hits, the Jackals plated two runs, the second of which scored when 1B Jabe Bergeron tripled in the third and scored on an error. LF Ryan Crespi enjoyed a perfect 3-for-3 night, accounting for half of Worcester's hits in the losing effort. LHP Jayson Miller earned the win for New Jersey with five shutout innings, and RHP Romas Hicks earned his 17th save by striking out the side in a perfect ninth.
Brockton 7, Pittsfield 1
2B Shawn Williams missed the cycle by a triple on a 4-for-5 night, and RF Keith Brachhold, C Chris Grossman, and LF Mike Conroy each enjoyed three-hit nights as Brockton overcame Pittsfield 7-1. RHP Freddy Flores improved to 7-2 on the year with six shutout innings, striking out eight without walking a batter. SS Matt Nandin and DH Donny Leon enjoyed two-hit nights for Pittsfield in the loss.
Sussex 6, Quebec 5
2B Joe Persichina reached base four times and stroked a triple, but his big hit was an eighth-inning single that broke a 5-5 tie as Sussex topped Quebec 6-5. Southpaw reliever Jared Locke picked up the victory by striking out three of the five batters he faced, allowing just one hit. SS Ivan Naccarata and C Marc Mimeault each had two hits for the Capitales in the loss.
