Minot Skyrockets News Release

Minot, ND - October 9, 2006 - Dayshawn Wright has signed his contract, taking his first step toward an NBA career. The Minot Skyrockets have announced that Wright will be coming to Minot to play basketball, pending league approval of his contract.

Wright was the first round pick of the Minot Skyrockets in the 2006 CBA Rookie Draft, as well as the first overall pick. He was a standout in high school at Oak Hill Academy, a renowned basketball school. As a high school senior, Wright led his Oak Hill Academy team to a 38-0 record and won the national championship. He was ranked 11th among power forwards by Hoopmasters.com and 90th in the 2004 class by Prep Stars. He played 2 seasons at Syracuse University and became an early entry draft candidate. At 6'6 - 232 lbs., Wright will make an immediate impact on the Skyrockets team.

"Before the draft we spoke to Dayshawn, his mother, his agent and the coaches from Syracuse to make sure that we were on the same page. Receiving his contract was the first step. Everyone has stayed on point and has been very helpful in getting this process completed," said Head Coach Chris Daleo. "Being a first round pick brings added responsibilities and some added pressure above and beyond being a rookie in the CBA. The pro game will be a learning experience for Dayshawn, but we are committed to helping him adjust to and succeed with basketball life both on and off the floor."

Fans will see Dayshawn Wright and all the other Skyrockets on the court beginning with the home opener on Sunday, December 3rd, 2006 with tip-off at 4:05 pm.
