Spokane Shock News Release

Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that former Louisville Fire Offensive Coordinator Adam Shackleford will be named their new Head Coach.

Shackleford, who will replace former Head Coach Chris Siegfried, will enter his fourth season as a Coach in the af2. This will be his first season as a Head Coach in the league.

As the Offensive Coordinator for the Fire, Shackleford engineered an offense that finished third in the af2 in Scoring Offense, averaging nearly 58 points a game. The Fire also finished in top five in Pass Offense, and Total Offense in 2006. In addition to calling the offensive plays, Shackleford also handled player personnel for Fire Head Coach Tommy Johnson.

"Coach Shackleford has a very impressive resume. His knowledge of the game is unparalleled; he proved that earlier this season by being one of only two teams to beat us," CEO/Owner Brady Nelson said. "Additionally, he is an excellent recruiter. We have no doubt that Coach Shackleford will be able to bring in the same quality of players that brought a Championship to Spokane last year."

Shackleford will lead the Shock in their second season as they defend the 2006 ArenaCup Championship. As a Head Coach, Shackleford looks to extend his previous success with the Fire that included two straight playoff appearances, highlighted by a berth in the 2005 Arena Cup.

In each season as Offensive Coordinator at Louisville, Shackleford produced the af2's Offensive Player of the Year - Quarterback Matt Sauk in 2005, and WR/LB Rob Mager in 2006 - as well as the 2006 Rookie of the Year, QB Brett Dietz.

"This is an excellent opportunity for me; I know there were a lot of coaches out there who wanted this job. Brady (Nelson, CEO) and Adam (Nebeker, General Manager) expect nothing but excellence out of the Shock organization and my job as Head Coach is to maintain that standard," Shackleford said.

At this time, it is not known when Shackleford will be available to the media; once a time has been confirmed that information will be released immediately to the media. For more information please visit www.spokaneshock.com.
