92.3 The Fan Named Flagship Station of the Cleveland Gladiators

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Gladiators and CBS RADIO Cleveland are pleased to announce that SPORTS RADIO 92.3 THE FAN (WKRK-FM) will be the official radio home of the Arena Football League team for the 2012 season. All games will air LIVE on 92.3 The Fan and can be heard streaming LIVE at www.923thefan.com. Concurrently, Doug Plagens has been named as the radio voice for the team's upcoming season. The announcement was made live on the air this afternoon on the Bull and Fox Show.

"We couldn't be more pleased to have the Cleveland Gladiators as our first local play-by-play broadcast," said Tom Herschel, Senior Vice President and Market Manager for CBS RADIO's four station Cleveland cluster. "This opportunity will only enhance 92.3 The Fan's local approach to sports talk radio."

"We are excited for this opportunity to work with the great team at 92.3 FM The Fan as the home of the Gladiators," the Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena organization President Len Komoroski said. "Our relationship will extend beyond the game broadcasts and include other features and elements designed to give our fans more action, more access and more fun!"

In addition to airing all 18 regular season games, the broadcasts will feature a five-minute pregame show, as well as a 10-minute post-game show. Fans can also keep up-to-date with the Gladiators daily, with a "Gladiators Update" at 5:50 pm each weekday, with "The Bull and the Fox."

Plagens, who currently handles the Lake Erie Monsters radio duties, will also serve as the play-by-play voice for the Gladiators. He most recently served as a television sports anchor and reporter at the local CBS, FOX and ABC affiliates in Youngstown, Ohio. Plagens was previously the radio and television play-by-play broadcaster for the Idaho Steelheads (ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars). While there he was named the 2010 ECHL Broadcaster of the Year. Plagens received his bachelor's degree from Lake Forest College and his master's from Syracuse University.

The Cleveland Gladiators are part of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena organization and also owned by a group led by Cavaliers Majority Owner and Quicken Loans Founder and Chairman Dan Gilbert. The group also owns and operates the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League playing at Quicken Loans Arena and the Canton Charge of the NBA Development League playing in nearby Canton, Ohio at the Canton Civic Center.
