'9 to the Nines' Logos to be Revealed Tuesday

READING, PA. - The final step of the "9 to the Nines" project will be revealed on Tuesday at Olivet Boys & Girls Club Jr. RBI Baseball Opening Day from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Gordon Hoodak Stadium at Lauer's Park.

Sponsored by Subway, the "9 to the Nines" program launched in March of 2012 when Jason Klein and Casey White of Brandiose visited four Olivet Boys and Girls clubs throughout Reading to help the children foster nicknames and logos to represent their respective clubs.

Much like they do with their clients in Minor League Baseball, Klein and White brainstormed with the kids and worked to being those ideas to life in logo form. Kids sketched their ideas at each event and presented them to Brandiose, who then compiled the ideas into a major league look for RBI League Opening Day 2013.

Each team will don the new-look jerseys and caps for the RBI League season this summer. Along with the "9 to the Nines" jerseys, other team's will be sporting jerseys featuring the recently-rebranded Baseballtown logo.

"The culmination of the ‘9 to the Nines' project is something that myself and Baseballtown Charities has been looking forward to ever since we met with the clubs last spring," said President of Baseballtown Charities Chuck Domino. "With our friends at Brandiose and Subway, the Olivet Boys and Girls Club kids were able to have tons of fun helping create the new logos while giving their clubs an identity that will span forthcoming generations."

Opening Day at Gordon Hoodak Stadium will also feature appearances by players from the Reading Fightin Phils, mascots, and Kings and Queens of Baseballtown.

Baseballtown Charities, a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity, was launched in 2002 in association with the Reading Fightin Phils in order to keep baseball alive in Reading through charitable donations to underprivileged youth, who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to play baseball.

In 2006, Baseballtown was able to complete its dream project-Gordon Hoodak Stadium at Lauer's Park. The ballpark, which sits upon the grounds of Lauer's Park Elementary School, is the cornerstone of the efforts to revitalize and reclaim a part of the City of Reading and its long baseball history. Named after the current and longtime principal of the school, Gordon Hoodak Stadium at Lauer's Park shares the same location as the professional stadium that sat there from 1907-1941. Babe Ruth, "Shoeless" Joe Jackson, and "Broadway" Charlie Wagner are just some of the legends to play at the historic grounds.
