70's Night with the Altitude

March 30, 2004 - NBA G League (G League)
Asheville Altitude News Release

ASHEVILLE, N.C., March 30 – The Asheville Altitude has teamed up with the local entertainment group Go-Go Girlie Action and The Orange Peel music club to host "70's Night with the Altitude," Saturday, April 3 at 7:15 p.m. at the Asheville Civic Center. A portion of the proceeds from the game will benefit The Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy; Terpiscorps Theatre of Dance; and Leaf in the Streets.

Go-Go Girlie Action, Asheville's premiere go-go troupe highlighted by their pink wigs and knee-high white platform boots, will bring dance, fun and merriment to a night of "solid gold" dancing, 70's style games and great blast-from-the-past prizes as the Altitude host the Huntsville Flight.

"We are looking forward to hosting a 70's themed contest on April 3 and featuring Go-Go Girlie Action," said Alfred White, team president. "The game will be packed with 70's entertainment in addition to providing a great opportunity for the Altitude to support these worthy causes."

Tickets are still available in the lower and upper bowl seating section for $10. In addition, for each $10 ticket sold, the Altitude will donate $3 to the selected Go-Go Girlie Action charities.

Tickets can be purchased at The Orange Peel (101 Biltmore Ave.), Beauty Parade (783 Haywood Rd.) or Civic Center Lobby on game day for the GGGA fund-raiser and can not be combined with any other Altitude promotion.

The fun doesn't stop when the game is over, however. The Orange Peel music club is host to Saffire-The Uppity Blues Women, an acoustic blues trio, after the game. Basketball fans with a valid Altitude ticket stub may purchase a discounted $6 ticket, 60% off the normal door price of $17.

"This is a fabulous opportunity to bring together high-adrenaline sports and flashy entertainment, all while serving a couple of great local causes," said Bambi (Go-Go Girlie's Lesley Groetsch)

"We can't imagine a better way to spend a Saturday night-supporting the Altitude, the arts, and the environment," said Amber (Go-Go Girlie Action's Michelle Denyez).
