Tulsa, Okla., September 9, 2009 - The Tulsa 66ers announced today that the team will host an open player tryout on Saturday, Oct. 10 and Sunday, Oct. 11 at the Tulsa Convention Center, located at 100 Civic Center in downtown Tulsa. All participants will compete during two sessions of the tryout on Saturday, from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. and from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. Top players during the tryout will be invited back to the Sunday session.
The open tryout will offer athletes an opportunity to showcase their talents in front of Oklahoma City Thunder and 66ers basketball operations and coaching staffs. Players will compete to earn an invitation to the 66ers' official Training Camp, which is scheduled to begin November 14.
"These tryouts offer a unique opportunity for players to get noticed and every year we seem to find that 'diamond in the rough'," 66ers Head Coach Nate Tibbetts said. "We look forward to working with the players that attend."
Applicants must be eligible to play in the NBA Development League and may pre-register by submitting the official registration, disclosure, and release forms, along with a $130 fee. Day of tryout fee will be $150. All forms are available at tulsa66ers.com or at the 66ers office, located at 2727 E. 21st St., Suite 500 in Tulsa. Payments may be made by cash, money order, cashier's check or credit card.
Any questions regarding the camp can be addressed by calling the 66ers office at 918-545-8444. Players needing accommodations are recommended to stay at the Doubletree Hotel Tulsa - Downtown, the preferred hotel during local player tryouts.
