66ers Announce Open Tryout Dates

TULSA, Okla., August 31, 2011 - The Tulsa 66ers, proud affiliate of the Oklahoma City Thunder, have announced the dates of the team's open tryouts for the upcoming 2011-12 NBA D-League season.

The tryouts will take place Oct. 8-9 inside the Tulsa Convention Center. Day one on Saturday begins with check-in at 8:15 a.m., followed by two sessions at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Only top performers will be invited to return for Sunday's 10 a.m. session.

Individuals will be evaluated through a variety of drills and scrimmages. Prospects will be assessed by Tulsa 66ers coaches and Oklahoma City Thunder basketball operations staff.

Last year's tryouts produced Alabama State's Brandon Brooks, who helped guide the 66ers to the semifinals of the 2011 D-League playoffs. Drafted by the 66ers, the Dallas native played in 33 games (four starts) and averaged 4.0 points and 3.0 assists on the year.

Interested players should submit completed registration forms (attached and available at Tulsa66ers.com) along with a $150 non-refundable participation fee by Oct. 5 to the Tulsa 66ers business office located at 2727 E. 21st St., Suite 500, Tulsa, OK, 74114. A $175 fee will be assessed to those registering after the Oct. 5 deadline.

Those attending the tryouts may take advantage of a special $69 nightly rate at the Doubletree Hotel, located in downtown Tulsa across the street from the Convention Center.

The 66ers open the 2011-12 D-League season on the road with back-to-back contests against the Idaho Stampede on Nov. 25-26.
