July 5, 2012 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
Alexandria Aces News Release

Alexandria, LA; July 5, 2012 - The Texas Collegiate League (TCL) has announced that five Alexandria Aces players were recently by the coaches of the TCL to play in Monday Night's All-Star Game in Victoria, Texas.

The Aces will be playing for the North team alongwith members of the league-leading East Texas Pump Jacks, the Texas Marshals, and the Brazos Valley Bombers.

Three Position players were selected as starters for the game. Nathan Hale, outfielder from Cochise College, has been consistently at the top of the leaders in hitting this Summer in the TCL and is currently the third highest hitter in the league, with a .348 batting average. Nathan is from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Jami Rachal, infielder from Baton Rouge Community College and Oak Hill Graduate was selected for the second year in a row by TCL coaches. Jami has also been consistently in the top 10 hitters of the TCL in average, but went through a recent slump and enters tonight's contest hitting .286. Jami was selected as the starting shortstop for the All-Star Game.

Lucas Quary, infielder from McNeese State University was selected as the starting first baseman. Lucas, from Mt. Pleasant, Texas, has been the Aces' long-ball threat this Summer, as he is tied for the Aces' team lead with 3 home runs and is second in RBIs with 13. Lucas is 11th in the league in hitting with a .301 average.

Two of the Aces pitchers were also named to the TCL All-Star Game staff. Right-handed pitcher Nathan Aultman was selected as the top right-hander for the TCL contest. Aultman, from Mangham, and a student at Hinds Community College leads the Aces' with 3 wins and is 10th in the league with a 2.83 ERA. In all four of Nathan's starts, the Aces have won that game.

Zach Rodgers, a two-way threat from Cochise College from El Mirage, Arizona, is 7th in the league in ERA, although he is 0-3. Zach leads all TCL pitchers with 31 strikeouts in just over 30 innings. Rodgers has also hit 2 home runs at the plate this year for the Aces' as well.

"We are excited to be able to send 5 players to the TCL All-Star Game this year," Head Coach Freddy Rodriguez stated. "This is by far the most we have had selected, and we could have had Stryker Brown, either catcher, Ryan Wagner or Garrett Vail, and possibly Devin Malone and Rob Thomas selected as pitchers, too."

"We had a slow start, starting out 1-7, but we have played some good baseball in the past few weeks and we are setting ourselves up for a playoff-run in the second-half. These players on the Aces are far superior to last year's team; and we just need to put together some wins to bring the Aces' winning ways back to Bringhurst Field."

The Aces and its local ownership group are looking forward to continuing to provide great, family-friendly entertainment to the Central Louisiana community. Come out and show your support of the Alexandria Aces.
