4-1 Raiders & Explosion Face Off In Erie

(RICHMOND)- The Erie Explosion (4-1) host the Richmond Raiders (4-1) Saturday Night in a SIFL game that has playoff implications already. This game will be the first of two between the teams in the span of 3 weeks. Erie visits Richmond on May 7 to close out the season series between the two contenders.
The teams do have one glowing similarity; they both have receivers that are the among the most productive in the league. Controlling Erie's Kevin Concepcion 44 receptions / 543 yards / 16 TDs and Richmond's Redd Thompson 35 / 553 / 15 will be job one for the opposing defenses.
From there the teams are somewhat of a contrast of how to go 4-1. QB Adam DiMichelle has performed well and taken nearly all of the snaps for the Explosion this season. It is possible that newly acquired Mike Potts could be the fourth QB to start a game for the Raiders this season. Erie does a good job of protecting their passer (7 sacks allowed) but has only 9 sacks on defense. The Richmond offensive line is a little more generous (11 sacks allowed); but the Richmond defense has registered 23 sacks (2nd in the SIFL). Erie has an excellent turnover margin (+11) while Richmond comes in at (-4). One statistical oddity exists; the Explosion's four wins have all come over teams that had no wins at that point in their season. Erie's lone loss was against Trenton who was 0-3 going into that game. Erie is currently 1-1 against Trenton in their season series.
