30 Days Out: Atlanta United and Club America to Face-Off in Second Edition of Campeones Cup on August 14 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium

NEW YORK - With just a month to go, the stage is set for the second edition of Campeones Cup, where Liga MX reigning champion Club América and current Major League Soccer champion Atlanta United will battle for continental soccer supremacy. MLS and Liga MX today announced the matchup following the result of the Campeón de Campeones clash last night, in which Club América was crowned champion.

Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets to the 2019 Campeones Cup by visiting www.Ticketmaster.com.

The 2019 edition of Campeones Cup will be played on August 14 at 8:00 p.m. ET in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Club América, Liga MX's most decorated club, and one of North America's most famed and celebrated clubs, will represent the Mexican league. Led by legendary manager Miguel Herrera, América earned its spot in Campeones Cup by defeating this season's Liga MX Clausura champion and last year's Campeón de Campeones champion, Tigres UANL, on penalties.

The 2019 Campeones Cup is the second edition of the yearly event that is part of a larger multi-year collaboration between MLS and Liga MX, designed to bring fans together from the U.S., Mexico and Canada in a show of unity while fueling a rivalry between two of the world's most competitive soccer leagues. Other elements of the partnership include the newly minted Leagues Cup, which will take place in July and August, as four MLS and Liga MX clubs face off in single elimination play, before the Final in Las Vegas on September 18.

Campeones Cup will also feature a joint social responsibility program in Atlanta, which will be announced in the coming weeks.

Tickets for the 2019 Campeones Cup are now on sale via www.Ticketmaster.com. Fans are urged to purchase tickets early in order to ensure the best seats for what is sure to be an exciting clash between the champions of both leagues.

Tigres UANL won the first edition of Campeones Cup, when the Monterrey-based club defeated Toronto FC 3-1 on Sept. 19, 2018, at BMO Field in Toronto.
