Nashville SC News Release
NASHVILLE - Nashville Soccer Club will continue its quest for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday night with a Third Round match against Charleston Battery. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM at Hayes Stadium in Murfreesboro, TN. Nashville comes into the match having earned a 0-0 draw at Indy Eleven on Saturday night. Here are three things to know about the match.
1) Back in the 'Boro - Wednesday's match will take place at Hayes Stadium on the campus of MTSU in Murfreesboro. It will be Nashville's second-ever home match outside of Davidson County. The Boys in Gold played their first U.S. Open Cup match at Hayes Stadium on May 14 and won 3-2 to advance to face the Battery.
2) Five Straight Unbeaten - Nashville SC will put a five-match unbeaten run on the line against Charleston on Wednesday night in Murfreesboro. The club extended its streak to five matches last week with a 1-0 win on the road at Birmingham Legion FC and a 0-0 draw at Indy Eleven. Nashville has not lost since a 1-0 defeat against Tampa Bay Rowdies on May 8.
3) MLS Opponent Waiting in the Wings - If Nashville SC beats Charleston Battery on Wednesday night, it will advance to the Fourth Round of the U.S. Open Cup. In that round, MLS clubs enter the competition, so Nashville would get the chance to face an MLS club should it advance. Last season, Nashville faced the Colorado Rapids in the Fourth Round and won 2-0 at Vanderbilt Stadium before losing to Louisville City FC in the Fifth Round of the competition.
