Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Tampa Bay Rays announced a handful of moves on Friday, including the promotion of 2B/LF Brandon Lowe from the Biscuits to AAA Durham. Lowe, who was just selected to start at DH for the North Division in the 2018 Southern League All-Star Game, will head to Triple-A for the first time in his career.

Lowe, 23, was hitting .291 with eight home runs and a Southern League-leading 41 RBIs at the time of his promotion, and came to within one May RBI of tying a Biscuit record for RBIs in a month, originally set by Gaby Martinez with 29 RBIs in May of 2008.

The Rays also announced that 1B Nate Lowe and IF Peter Maris have been promoted to the Biscuits from A+ Charlotte. Lowe (22), the older brother of Rays number 10 prospect Josh Lowe, was putting together a monster season for the Stone Crabs, having won the Florida State League Player of the Month in April and May. The former Mississippi State player was hitting .356 with 10 home runs and 44 RBIs in 51 games, and will head to Double-A for the first time in his career.

Maris, 24, was also enjoying a terrific start to the 2018 season with A+ Charlotte, hitting .320 with five home runs and 19 RBIs at the time of his promotion. The Anaheim, CA native has never played at the Double-A level, but he was called up to the Biscuits for the 2017 playoffs, but did not feature in any of the games.

Biscuits SS Jermaine Palacios was also transferred to A+ Charlotte. Palacios, 21, was hitting .189 with one home run and 20 RBIs in 49 games for the Biscuits.

The Biscuits active roster is currently at 25.
