2023 NBA Draft Ignite Profile: Mojave King

June 13, 2023 - NBA G League (G League)
NBA G League Ignite News Release

An NBA academy graduate, Mojave King became the fourth NBA academy alum to sign with Ignite. In 2021, King joined the NBL's Next Stars program, where he played for Cairns Taipans and Adelaide 36ers. During his time at NBA Global Academy, King participated in several high-profile international events, such as the 2019 NBA Academy Games and the 2020 Torneo Junior Ciutat de L'Hospitalet. Prior to joining Ignite, King spent the summer of 2022 as a member of the Southland Sharks, where he averaged 18.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 16 games.

King signed with Ignite in September of 2022 and quickly made his mark on the team as a rookie. This past season, he logged 9.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in a team-high 48 appearances across the Showcase Cup and regular season action. In addition to his nine games with at least 15 points, he logged at least two made three-pointers in 13 games, which was second-most on the team this season.

Versatility has been Mojave's main calling card since joining Ignite. Offensively, he can contribute both on the ball with plays run through him as well as off the ball on pindowns and other half-court sets. His excellent athleticism has also translated over the defensive end, as he's fully capable of effectively guarding a wide variety of positions in switch-heavy schemes.

2022-23 Season Averages: 48 GP, 9.4 PTS, 4.3 REB, 1.4 AST, 0.5 STL, 40.3 FG%

Top Performance:

King showed up and showed out against the Santa Cruz Warriors back on Nov. 12. He scored a career-high 28 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field, including 7-of-10 from three-point range, and also picked up two steals in a 125-115 victory for Ignite. His 7 made threes were the second-most in a game by any player on Ignite this past season, behind only John Jenkins' program-record of 11.

All-Star Weekend 2023:

King, along with fellow Ignite teammates Scoot Henderson, Leonard Miller and Sidy Cissoko, was selected to play in both Jordan Rising Stars and the G League Next Up Game during All-Star weekend. He produced two points, two rebounds, and one assist for Team Jason in the Jordan Rising Stars semifinal, and logged eight points on 4-of-6 shooting while adding four rebounds and three assists off the bench as a member of Team Scoot during the Next Up Game.
