2018 PGCBL All-League Team Announced

On Monday, the Rapids had four players selected to the 2018 PGCBL All-League Teams. Starting pitcher Jack Buckley (Franklin & Marshall College) was the lone selection for the Rapids to the First Team. Buckley completed the season with a 5-1 record over 9 starts, 1.96 ERA, 50.1 innings pitched, 51 strikeouts, and allowed 13 walks. Buckley was tied with Elmira's Mason Hazelwood for most wins in the league.

Earning Second Team honors were Third Baseman Nick Bosma, Outfielder Julian Kurych, and Outfielder Alex Mumme.

Over 33 regular season games, Bosma (Rhodes College) had a .285 batting average, 7 home runs, 32 runs batted in, and 14 stolen bases. Bosma also appeared in 17 games on the mound for Watertown collecting 35 strikeouts in 30 innings pitched.

Over 36 regular season games, Kurych (Wilmington University) had a .365 batting average, 2 home runs, 21 runs batted in, and 11 stolen bases. Kurych provided plenty of power to all fields with 13 doubles on the season.

Over 32 regular season games, Mumme (Ursinus College) had a .322 batting average, 8 home runs, and 25 runs batted in. Mumme competed in the home run derby for the Rapids at the PGCBL All-Star game in Elmira, NY this summer.

With these four selections, the Rapids were tied for second-most with Mohawk Valley. Only Amsterdam had more players selected to the All-League teams with six. Per the article linked above, the PGCBL will announce Coach of the year on Tuesday, Pitcher of the year on Wednesday, and Player of the year on Thursday.
