Los Angeles Sparks News Release
Celebrating its 20th anniversary as one of three original WNBA franchises, the Los Angeles Sparks will open the 2016 WNBA season on Sunday, May 15 vs. the Seattle Storm at 2:00 pm at STAPLES Center.
Los Angeles will host seven weekend games at STAPLES Center, featuring five Sunday matinee contests and two Friday night games, including the first visit from Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury on Friday, June 17 at 7:30 pm.
The Sparks will appear on five national telecasts on ESPN2, including its first broadcast on Tuesday, May 24 against 2015 WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne and the Chicago Sky.

Two-time WNBA Champions, the Sparks won back-to-back WNBA titles in 2001 and 2002 and have qualified for the postseason a WNBA record 15 times. Led by WNBA All-Stars Candace Parker, Nneka Ogwumike and Jantel Lavender, the Sparks play their home games at STAPLES Center in downtown Los Angeles.
