AKRON, OH - The Akron Racers announced today that Hannah Perryman, the Racers sixth-round draft pick in the 2016 NPF Draft, has signed her first professional contract to play for the Racers. Perryman, who was the 37th overall selection in the 2016 NPF Senior Draft, is a left-handed pitcher from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

"I am confident that Hannah will continue to bring the successful tradition she has enjoyed in the college ranks," noted GM Joey Arrietta. "Having coached at the Division II level, I believe there are players, like Hannah, that deserve serious consideration on draft day. Consistency over four solid years is evidence that this young player is a gamer."

Perryman became the first player to be drafted from a Division II college or university in the history of the NPF Draft when Akron selected her with its eighth and final choice of the draft.

This past Monday, Perryman was named a First-Team NFCA All-American, making her the first Triton to earn four All-American honors in any team sport. In her senior season, Perryman broke the NCAA Division II single season record with 567 strikeouts. The left-handed pitcher posted a 45-6 record with 24 shutouts and a career-best 1.18 ERA in 2016.

Perryman, a top 10 finalist for the NFCA/Schutt Sports NCAA Division II Player of the Year, is also the record holder for career strikeouts (1,725), strikeouts per seven innings (12.1) and nine perfect games.

UMSL reached the Division II Regionals behind Perryman's arm. The senior leaves her college career with the third most no-hitters in Division II history with 15. Perryman also ranks sixth with 128 wins and seventh with 61 shutouts.

Perryman was one of three players selected by the Racers in 2016 with collegiate pitching experience to go along with top pick Jailyn Ford from James Madison University and Geri Ann Glasco from the University of Oregon. The three draft selections join veterans Sarah Pauly, Alison Owen, Aimee Creger and Laura Winter to make up the current 2016 pitching staff.

The Racers will kick off their 15th Season of Play in 2016 on May 31 in York, Pennsylvania when they take on the Pennsylvania Rebellion in the NPF Season Opener. After a two-game set on the road, the Rebellion will come to Akron to take on the Racers at Firestone Stadium for a three-game series beginning on June 8. Single game and season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased online at www.akronracers.org or by contacting the box office at 330-376- 8188.
