Jersey G-Force News Release

Vancouver, WA - The Seattle Flight were guided by Mike James' 41 points and Dontae Jones' 34 points as they defeated the Salem Sabres 144-136 in the first round of the 2014 IBL Playoffs. The game was played at an uptempo speed in front of the fans at Clark College, but in the end the Flight were too much for the Sabres. Seattle shot an impressive 42.3% from three point range in the first half, and capitalized on a quick first quarter start by outscoring Salem 49-27. The Flight backed up their solid first quarter with a 25 point second quarter and took a 74-64 lead into halftime. Following the half, Seattle was outscored 72-70 by Salem, but the lead that they had built in the first half helped Seattle seal the deal. With eight total lead changes, both teams fought hard for the victory and the chance to move on to face back-to-back IBL champions, the Bellingham Slam.

Salem were guided by Tyrone White Jr. who poured in 39 points and added 8 rebounds. The Sabres also received a great effort from Webster Moreland who finished with 33 points and 15 rebounds. Despite winning the rebound battle 58-45, Salem's 18 turnovers and 28 team fouls proved to be the difference makers as Seattle tallied just 13 turnovers, and committed 18 personal fouls.

Seattle will now face Bellingham in the final game of day at 7:30 PM Pacific Time. Seattle and Bellingham faced each other four times during the regular season, and Bellingham won all four contests. However, the Flight fought hard in every one of their regular season meetings against the Slam, so expect a great game as both teams will look to advance to the championship game Sunday, 5:00 PM Pacific Time at Clark College.
