Jersey G-Force News Release

BALTIMORE - After severe weather on Saturday night forced the United Women's Lacrosse League (UWLX) to play its semifinal matches on Sunday morning, the first-ever UWLX Championship Game is now set, as the Long Island Sound and Boston Storm have advanced to face one another today at 1:00 p.m. The match will be played at Homewood Field on the campus of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md, with all of the action airing live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.

Due to the volume of games that the UWLX players had on the agenda if they won their semifinal match-ups this morning, both of these fixtures were played with 20-minute halves.

In the first contest of the morning, the Storm advanced to the league final by defeating the Baltimore Ride, 10-3. Kristin Igoe led the way for Boston, registering five points on four goals and an assist. Three different players scored the finishes for Baltimore.

In the contest, the Storm raced out to a 4-0 advantage and never looked back. They eventually took a 6-2 edge into the intermission before out-scoring Baltimore 4-1 in the second half.

In the second pairing of the semifinals, the Philadelphia Force grabbed an early 3-1 lead before Long Island eventually leveled the match at four goals apiece before halftime. In the second half, Katrina Dowd completed a hat trick for the Sound in leading her team on a four-tally unanswered streak, which eventually hung the final 8-4 score line.

It will now be a quick turnaround for the Long Island Sound and Boston Storm, as the two teams prepare to battle at 1:00 p.m. in a meeting that will crown the first-ever UWLX champions. ** (https://twitter.com/unitedwlax) ** (https://www.facebook.com/unitedwlax) ** (http://uwlx.pointstreaksites.com/view/uwlx) About United Women's Lacrosse League: The ** UWLX (http://www.unitedwlax.com) is the first semi-professional post-collegiate women's lacrosse league launched by United Women's Sports, LLC out of Boston, MA.
