2013-14 NBL Canada Defensive Player of the Year Re-Signs with A's

September 29, 2014 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) - Orangeville A's News Release

Brampton, ON - The Brampton A's are excited to announce the return of the 2013-14 NBL Canada Defensive Player of the Year , Cavell Johnson. Johnson joins Melvin Council as the second player returning to the A's after a successful inaugural 2013-14 season.

This will mark the third season for Johnson in the league. Before coming to the A's, he spent his first season playing for the Saint John Mill Rats.

In the 2013-14 season Cavell was league Player of the Week, twice. He also set the league record for blocked shots in a season, along with being named an All-Star and first team All-League.

GM/Head Coach David Magley was understandably thrilled about the return of a great player, "Cavell means so very much to our franchise as a person and a player.  He is amazing in everything that he puts his heart to, and so far we have reaped the benefits in public appearances and game day efforts.  CJ has spent no less than 700 hours in the gym this year improving his skills and staying sharp, the proof of this hard work will be in his performance."

The A's will kick off their season October 21st, with a "Toonie Tuesday" pre-season game at home, where fans will get in for just $2. The regular season starts as the A's host its Peel rival, the Mississauga Power, Saturday November 1st, 7pm at the Powerade Centre.
