Breakers Look to Extend Win Streak this Wednesday
Currently on their longest win streak, the Breakers look to extend it to four when they take on first place FC Gold Pride at Harvard Stadium this Wednesday, July 21 at 7 p.m.
Boston has limited rest heading into Wednesday's match, but will carry over momentum from Sunday night, when they came from behind for the third consecutive game and defeated the Washington Freedom 2-1, with goals from Jordan Angeli and Liz Bogus.
Another victory could push the Breakers, who sit one point behind the fourth place Washington Freedom and Chicago Red Stars, into third. However, Bay Area is also on a three-game hot streak and sitting a comfortable ten points ahead of second place, looks to be the toughest competition in the league this season. This will mark the third game in a four-game 2010 season series, which FC Gold Pride is currently leading 2-0-0.
Tickets for Wednesday night's game are available online or at the Harvard Box Office on Wednesday. The first 500 fans into stadium will receive a free Laura del Rio trading card presented by Stonyfield Farm.
Breakers Bid Farewell To Erica Hunt
Breakers Communications Manager (and frequent In The Six author) Erica Hunt is leaving the team on July 23rd to take a marketing position with the University of Vermont Athletic Department. The Colchester, Vermont native is an original member of the Breakers front office staff, having joined the team in June 2008, nearly a year before WPS debuted in the spring of 2009.
"Erica Hunt is one of the longest tenured front office staffers in all of WPS and she is going to be greatly missed," said Breakers General Manager Andy Crossley. "In our first season, she was one of our most tireless and effective salespeople, promoting the team relentlessly and becoming extremely popular with our fans in her territory north of Boston. This past season, Erica has done a terrific job running our Communications efforts and bringing together Breakers players, our creative & marketing agencies and our corporate partners for the common purpose of building our club and WPS as a league."
