2009 Brings Change to 1790

Cincinnati Kings News Release

1790 Cincinnati Express today announced their new website, nickname, logo, and color scheme for the 2009-10 season.

Yes, you read that correctly. "Express" has been the latest addition to Cincinnati's only professional soccer team. Many people are baffled by the 1790 Cincinnati name. 1790 represents the year that Cincinnati replaced the former name of our city, which was previously known as Losantiville.

"We felt the need to add a little panache to the history of this team," said Director of Soccer Craig Rhodis.

The Express is a tribute to the Union Terminal train station located on the Southwest side of Cincinnati, which was a major hub for the railroad industry.

In conjuction with the new name, the Express has changed their colors to sky blue, black, gray, and white. The marketing effort reflects a wider campaign that includes an expanded front office.

The new website is www.1790cincinnatiexpress.com and their web effort includes new Twitter and Facebook pages.

1790 Cincinnati Express begins their second season in the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL-Pro) in November. The Express lost to the Stockton Cougars in the PASL-Pro North American Championships after finishing tops in the league with a 13-3 regular season record.
