2006 Raleigh Rebels Meet the Public

Raleigh, N.C. - The 2006 Raleigh rebels kicked off their campaign for the 2006 American Indoor Football League Season this past Wednesday with a press conference held at the Dorton Arena in Raleigh. Present were AIFL League President Andrew Haines, Executive Director Gary Tufford, as well as representatives from the Rebels including team President and Owner Greg Ellis, Head Coach Steven G. Folmar and prospective players and staff.

Kicking off the event, Greg Ellis welcomed all present members of the media, sponsors, as well as the folks from the Dorton Arena. He then outlined the future of the Raleigh Rebels, who were forced to play all their league games on the road in the inaugural season last year. This year the team will play their home games in the Dorton Arena at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. Ellis also talked about his vision of professional indoor football in the area and what he expects to give to the fans during the 2006 season.

Ellis then introduced Steven G. Folmar, who became the second head football coach in team history. Coach Folmar outlined his plans for the upcoming season. Folmar was followed by Haines, who discussed the expansion of the league from 6 times last year to its present 16-team format as well as the extended schedule, which will go from 10 regular season games to 14 regular season games this year.

The presses in attendance were then provided with a meal and team representatives gave personal interviews to media members following the event. The Rebels kickoff their season February 25, 2006 vs. the Carolina Ghostriders at Dorton Arena.
