2005-06 UHL All-Star Teams announced

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Tuesday the 2005-06 First and Second All-Star Teams as selected by league head coaches, general managers, and members of the media.

2005-06 UHL ALL-STAR FIRST TEAM

Goaltender - Joel Martin, Kalamazoo Wings

Defenseman - Dan Vandermeer, Richmond RiverDogs

Defenseman - Greg Labenski, Kalamazoo Wings

Forward - Mike Oliveira, Richmond RiverDogs

Forward - Jeff Nelson, Muskegon Fury

Forward - Robin Bouchard, Muskegon Fury

2005-06 UHL ALL-STAR SECOND TEAM

Goaltender - Kevin St. Pierre, Fort Wayne Komets

Defenseman - Daniel Carriere, Kalamazoo Wings

Defenseman - Guy Dupuis, Fort Wayne Komets

Forward - Hugo Belanger, Adirondack Frostbite

Forward - Drew Omicioli, Danbury Trashers

Forward - David Beauregard, Danbury Trashers

FIRST TEAM

Joel Martin (G), Kalamazoo Wings - The 23-year-old native of Three Hills, Alberta completed the regular season with a 36-12-4 record. His 2.20 goals against average (GAA) and .921 save percentage (SPCT) led all UHL goaltenders. He set a new league record by earning nine shutouts this season. Martin was named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Month for November.

Dan Vandermeer (D), Richmond RiverDogs - The 28-year-old native of Caroline, Alberta led all UHL defensemen in scoring with 90 points (15g, 75a), which also ranked tied for sixth overall. His 75 assists were second most in the league. Vandermeer played in all 76 regular season games for Richmond and earned a plus-14 rating. He was also selected to the starting line-up for the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic.

Greg Labenski (D), Kalamazoo Wings - The 28-year-old native Welland, Ontario led the entire UHL with a plus-54 rating. He was third among UHL defensemen with 62 points (15g, 47a) in 70 games played and tied for second among defensemen with 15 goals. Labenski was selected to the starting lineup for the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic and scored two points (1g, 1a) in the game.

Mike Oliveira (F), Richmond RiverDogs - The 27-year-old West Lorne, Ontario native ranked third in UHL scoring with 105 points (61g, 44a). His 61 goals led the league and were the most goals scored since the 1999-2000 season. Oliveira played in all 76 regular season games for Richmond and compiled a plus-12 rating. He was selected to the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic, registering one assist in the game.

Jeff Nelson (F), Muskegon Fury - The 33-year-old native of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan tied for the league in scoring with 116 points (33g, 83a). His 83 assists led the UHL and were the most by a player in the league since the 1999-2000 season. Nelson played in 71 regular season games and earned a plus-32 rating. He scored four points (1g, 3a) was a team captain at the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic.

Robin Bouchard (F), Muskegon Fury - The 32-year-old Jonquiere, Quebec native tied teammate Jeff Nelson for the overall UHL scoring lead with 116 points (59g, 57a). His 59 goals were the second most in the UHL. He led the league with 34 power play goals. Bouchard began the season on a 27-game point streak, which was one game shy of tying the league record. He had two points (1g, 1a) at the 2006 All-Star Classic.

SECOND TEAM

Kevin St. Pierre (G), Fort Wayne Komets - The 31-year-old native of Sherbrooke, Quebec completed the regular season with a 33-17-3 record. His 2.32 goals against average (GAA) ranked second among UHL goaltenders and his .918 save percentage (SPCT) ranked fourth. St. Pierre earned six shutouts this season to move into sole possession of first place on the UHL all-time career shutout list with 21.

Daniel Carriere (D), Kalamazoo Wings - The 26-year-old native of St. Malo, Manitoba was second among UHL defensemen in scoring with 80 points (10g, 70a). His 70 assists were the third most overall in the league. Carriere played in all 76 games for Kalamazoo and registered a plus-31 rating. He dished out two assists at the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic.

Guy Dupuis (D), Fort Wayne Komets - The 35-year-old Moncton, New Brunswick native ranked fifth among UHL defensemen with 57 points (12g, 45a). He played in all but one regular season game for the Komets and compiled a plus-27 rating. Dupuis led league defensemen with 311 shots on goal and was also selected to the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic.

Hugo Belanger (F), Adirondack Frostbite - The 35-year-old native of St. Hubert, Quebec was fourth overall in UHL scoring with 98 points (31g, 67a). His 67 assists ranked fourth in the league. He played 71 games for the Frostbite this season and earned a plus-19 rating. He was named to the starting lineup for the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic and registered two assists. It is his sixth consecutive selection to a postseason UHL All-Star Team.

Drew Omicioli (F), Danbury Trashers - The 26-year-old West Warwick, Rhode Island native tied for eighth overall in UHL scoring with 87 points (48g, 39a). His 48 goals were fourth most in the league. He played in 66 games for Danbury and compiled a plus-30 rating. Omicioli tied for the league lead with 11 game-winning goals which also equaled a UHL season record.

David Beauregard (F), Danbury Trashers - The 30-year-old Montreal, Quebec native ranked fifth in UHL scoring with 93 points (41g, 52a) in 70 games played. He spent the first 56 games of the season with the Roanoke Valley Vipers before being traded to the Danbury Trashers. He was named to the starting lineup for the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic and scored four goals on his way to being named team Most Valuable Player.
