Sioux Falls Stampede News Release

Sioux Falls, SD-The Sioux Falls Stampede are proud to announce that 20 former players are participating in NHL Training Camps for the upcoming 2011-12 season. The NHL exhibition schedule kicks off tonight and the regular season begins October 6th. All the clubs must trim their training camp rosters to 23 players by the start of the regular season.

The Stampede are well represented on several teams including the Buffalo Sabres where former defenseman Joe Finley is in camp with former superstar forwards Corey Tropp and Thomas Vanek. Tropp spent all of last season playing for the Sabres' top affiliate, the Portland Pirates. He posted 40 points in 76 games. Vanek is coming off his second best year as a pro, posting 73 points (32g, 41a) in 80 games for the Sabres last season.

Patrick Mullen is expected to contend for a spot with the Los Angeles Kings and fellow defenseman Nate Prosser is also considered to have a good shot at making the roster with the Minnesota Wild.
