Von Wafer of the Colorado 14ers is the D-League Performer of the Week for April 9, 2007. This is the first Performer of the Week honor for Wafer.
Wafer, who has been among the league leaders in scoring throughout the season, continued to excel on the offensive end last week by averaging 30.0 points in three games.
The second-year pro tied his season-high with 43 points with 7 rebounds on Friday in a win over the Idaho Stampede. He posted totals of 21 and 26 points in his other two games last week, and connected on .573 (35-61) of his field-goal attempts over the three games. Wafer was also proficient from three-point range, connecting on .416 (10-24) from beyond the arc. He also averaged 4.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
Wafer, a 6-5 guard, has enoyed a stellar campaign for the 14ers this season. He currently ranks second in the D-League in scoring (21.0 points), and three-point field goal percentage (.453, 120-265). He was named First Team All-D-League, participated in the D-League All-Star game, and received a GATORADE Call-Up to the Los Angeles Clippers on February 21.
