Colorado 14ers News Release

DENVER, Jan. 7 - The Colorado 14ers won their fifth straight home game Sunday night by beating the Bakersfield Jam 109-103 at the Broomfield Event Center. The win improves Colorado to 10-5 on the season. Bakersfield falls to 5-11 with the loss.

Elton Brown led Colorado, posting his fourth straight double-double with 28 points and 12 rebounds. Rick Rickert added 16 points and 8 rebounds for the 14ers in the win.

"We had the right guys at the right time pick it up for us," said 14ers head coach Joe Wolf. "Sometimes that's what it takes in a 50 game season is to have these games where you come out the victor when you don't exactly play the way you want to."

Gerry McNamara led the Jam with a game-high 29 points, knocking down three of his four 3-pointers in the 3rd quarter. But Bakersfield battled foul trouble all night, with Patrick O'Bryant, Roderick Riley, and Kevinn Pinkney all fouling out of the game. Pinkney, Andre McCollum, and Tamar Slay all finished with 14 points for the Jam in the loss.

Colorado once again featured a balanced scoring attack, with Pooh Jeter posting 14 points, Von Wafer 13, and Mike Harris adding 10 off the bench.

The 14ers will finish up a four game home stand on Tuesday night, Jan. 9 against the Austin Toros. The Jam continues on the road for two games in against the Stampede in Idaho on Wednesday, Jan. 10.
