DENVER, March 9 - The Colorado 14ers ran their win streak to five games with a 113-103 victory over the Los Angeles D-Fenders Friday night. The win is also the fifth in five games for the 14ers over the D-Fenders this season. Colorado improves to 25-14 on the season with the win, while Los Angeles drops to 19-19 with the loss.
Mike Harris led five 14ers in double figures, finishing with 27 points on 11 of 13 shooting. Harris has now scored in double digits in seven of his last nine games.
"Mike's been really improving, and his small forward skills are really coming through," said 14ers coach Joe Wolf. "He came to this league to develop his small forward capabilities and he's done a nice job with that so far."
The 14ers ran out to a 24 point lead early in the second quarter behind strong first half performances from Harris and Elton Brown. Harris came off the bench to score 11 points on five of five shooting, while Brown had nine points and eight rebounds in twelve minutes. Sean Banks countered with 16 first half points for Los Angeles, and the D-Fenders cut the Colorado lead to 53-49 at the half.
Behind a game-high 29 points off the bench from Banks Los Angeles cut the lead to one on two occasions in the third quarter, but the D-Fenders never pulled closer than five points in the final period. Andre Patterson finished with 14 points, and Wesley Wilson had 11 joining Banks as the only D-Fenders in double figures in the loss.
Von Wafer returned to the Colorado line-up for the first time since his Gatorade NBA call-up with the Los Angeles Clippers to score 18 points. Tony Bobbitt added 13 off the bench for the 14ers in the win.
Colorado and Los Angeles will finish their regular season series against one another on Saturday night at the Broomfield Event Center.
