Toronto Arrows News Release
TORONTO, ON - The Toronto Arrows Rugby Football Club is pleased to announce that 1-800-GOT-JUNK? will return as a partner of the Arrows for the 2023 MLR season.
"We are very excited to announce the continuation of our partnership with 1-800-GOT-JUNK?," said Tim Matthews, Toronto Arrows Vice President and General Manager. "Their support is a key component of athlete development for the Arrows and the broader rugby community."
As has been the case in previous seasons, the organization will also continue as the presenting partner of the Toronto Arrows Academy. In that key role, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? will directly support the Arrows' commitment to developing domestic, Canadian talent that is ready for the rigours of competing in North America's top professional league.
Beyond providing on-field support, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? is also committed to supporting rugby athletes off the pitch; the company is a preferred employer for post-secondary, amateur and professional rugby players looking for opportunities that fit their requirements as high-performance athletes. Both organizations will work together in promoting the 'Rugby-Friendly Employment Program' (RFEP).
The RFEP is an employment program designed to fit the schedule and demands of aspiring rugby players. Where traditional employment can sometimes hamper the development of players; such as late night finishes and weekend obligations which affect practices and playing time, the RFEP fits around the players schedule so that peak performance is more likely to be achieved both on the pitch, and in the work space.
"1-800-GOT-JUNK? is committed to the development of men's and women's rugby development in Ontario at all levels," said Darcy Longpre, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Franchise Partner and RFEP Founder. "We want to provide rugby players with the ability to work in an environment that fosters the same skillsets needed on the rugby pitch."
"Our RFEP will allow individuals to wrap full and part-time employment around their rigorous rugby schedules. Juggling rugby and employment can be tough, so when you join our team we create a schedule that honours both of those."
The Arrows continue their fifth campaign in North America's top-flight professional rugby league with a second home game of the season this Saturday against New England (April 13, 2023; 6 p.m. kickoff). The Academy will kick off their 2023 season earlier in the day, taking on Quebec Senior Men at 3 p.m.
