Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
BRADENTON, Fla. - RHP Dereck Rodriguez (W, 4-2) unleashed six shutout innings as Daniel Kihle's two-run home run lifted the Fort Myers Miracle (26-29) to a 2-0 win over the Bradenton Marauders (32-23) on Friday night.
Rodriguez surrendered just three singles over his six frames while striking out six. With a 2-0 lead, RHP Williams Ramirez walked one of seven batters he faced and retired the other six. In the ninth, RHP Alex Muren (S, 1) took care of business with a 1-2-3 inning.
Kihle's home run came with two outs after an Alex Perez walk in the second inning against starter LHP Taylor Hearn (L, 3-4). The dinger was one of just three hits Hearn allowed over six quality start innings of his own. The lefty tied a season high with eight strikeouts.
RHP David Fischer takes the mound in Game One against the Palm Beach Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium on Saturday night. The first pitch of a four-game series is set for 5:30 PM ET.
