/16 Bees Hire Smith as Vice President of Business Development

(New Britain, Conn.) - The New Britain Bees today announced that the team has hired Brad Smith as Vice President of Business Development for the team. Smith will work with both the Bees and the Bridgeport Bluefish in the same role.

Smith has considerable experience in minor league baseball, starting as a 21-year old concessions intern in 1995 with the Chattanooga Lookouts (AA, Minnesota Twins) and worked his way into a president/GM/ownership role from 2005-2015 with the Kannapolis Intimidators (A, Chicago White Sox). While with Kannapolis, Smith negotiated the team's stadium lease and naming rights, as well as managed the day to day operations of the team and facility. A graduate of Middlebury College, Smith also has experience as the owner of the Wilmington Sharks a summer collegiate team in the Coastal Plain League.

Smith's role efforts in New Britain will focus on the team's food and beverage program, while assisting with the team's group tickets, season and mini-plan packages and suite leases. In Bridgeport, Smith will oversee sponsorship generation and finance.
