Flint's Xavier Tessier led the scoring with three goals, securing the Firebirds' first goal and equalizing twice. A breakaway goal by Dima Zhilkin, a debut goal by Drew Bate, and two points by Braidy Wassilyn would round up Saginaw's offense for the game. Zhilkin's Two Goals Help Spirit Secure Point in Season Opener

September 18, 2026 - Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. - The Saginaw Spirit visited the Soo Greyhounds at GFL Memorial Gardens for their first game of the season on Friday night. The Soo's Noah Laus scored led the way with four points on the night. Saginaw's Dima Zhilkin finished the game with two goals, including the equalizer, and Levi Harper earned three assists.
