
Vipers a 63-49 winner over Jacksonville at VBC

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Alabama Vipers overcame a 14-point deficit in the third quarter and rolled to a 63-49 victory over the Jacksonville Sharks before 4,007 fans Saturday night at the Von Braun Center.
Alabama improved to 1-1 on the season and will look for its first road win at Utah next Saturday.
Vipers quarterback Kevin Eakin completed 22 of 41 passes for 244 yards and four touchdowns, with Michael Johnson catching eight of those for 83 yards and CJ Johnson and Larry Shipp adding a pair of touchdown catches. Alabama running back Dan Alexander upped his season rushing touchdown total to nine with four on the night.
Jacksonville (1-1) quarterback Aaron Garcia completed 18 of 29 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns, but was picked off twice - the first snagged by Viper newcomer Ahmad Hawkins and returned 40 yards for a 49-35 Alabama lead with 12:45 to play.
Alexander's final touchdown of the night from seven yards out made it a 56-35 game with 3:43 to play and the Vipers cruised from there.
