Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm faced the Wichita Falls Nighthawks at the Storm Shelter on April 16th where they won their seventh game of the season with a 71-44 victory. After tonight's triumph, the Sioux Falls Storm has won 55 consecutive home games.
The Nighthawks would be the first to strike after a seven-yard touchdown pass by Mike Wesley to Ja-Mes Logan increasing the score to 6-0. Caleb Holley would help cut the lead to 7-6 after a four-yard touchdown pass from Lorenzo Brown. Edward Wegzyn would score a four-yard rushing touchdown to increase Wichita Falls' lead to 13-7. Brown and Holley would connect after a 28-yard pass in the end zone bringing the score to 14-13. The Storm put more points on the board after Justin Syrovatka would score a 47-yard field goal, increasing the Storm's lead to 17-13. Another Brown to Holley pass scored a 21-yard touchdown for the Storm advancing their score 24-13, and ending the first quarter.
Starting the second quarter, the Nighthawks would strike first with a 25-yard field goal by Rockne Belmonte, bringing the score to 24-16. Caleb Holley would give the Storm another touchdown after a two-yard pass from Lorenzo Brown advancing their lead 30-16. Wichita Falls would score after Rockne Belmonte would kick a 47-yard field goal, bringing the score to a 30-19 ballgame. Angelo Pease, Storm running back, would score a 13-yard rushing touchdown, increasing the storms lead to 36-19. Rockne Belmonte scored a 32-yard field goal making the score 36-22. Troy Evans scored the rouge point after the Storm wouldn't be able to get the kickoff out of the end zone, making the score to 36-22. Caleb Holley advanced the score to 43-23 after a three-yard catch from Lorenzo Brown. The Storm would score again after Tyler Knight blocked a field goal attempt, ending the half with at 50-23.
The Nighthawks were the first to score in the second half, with a two-yard run by Tyler Williams, increasing the score to 50-30. Lorenzo Brown would hit Korey Williams with a 21-yard touchdown pass to make the Storm's lead 57-30. Troy Evans would score a 17-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Jolly, bringing the score to 57-37. Sioux Falls would score on their next drive after a receiving three-yard touchdown by Mike Tatum, bringing the score to 64-37.
In the fourth quarter, the Storm scored first after Lorenzo Brown and Korey Williams connected for a seven-yard touchdown pass, advancing the score to 71-37. The Nighthawks scored when Jordan Jolly ran in a one-yard touchdown with 32 seconds remaining, and ending the ball game with a score of 71-44.
Storm quarterback, Lorenzo Brown finished the game with 215 yards, eight touchdowns, and rushed for 43 yards. Angelo Pease rushed for 42 yards and scored one touchdown. Korey Williams finished with 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Caleb Holley had 58 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Mike Tatum received for 38 yards and had one touchdown. Jon Setzer and Matt Hermanson both finished with a total of nine tackles. Brandon Peguese finished with six tackles and one sack.
The Storm improves to 6-1 on the season while the Nighthawks fall to 4-2. The Storm returns to action Saturday, April 23rd when the Storm will travel to face the Nebraska Danger. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
